Privacy policy for TaskBreakdown

Overview

Last updated: October 26, 2026.

TaskBreakdown provides AI task breakdown and experience organization based on text supplied by users. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using taskbreakdown.app.

TaskBreakdown is operated by 张京乐, an individual developer based in Beijing, China. You can contact the operator using the email in the Contact section below.

Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information needed to operate the product:

  • Account information: your email address, login provider, display name, and authentication records.
  • Task and experience content: submitted task descriptions, full conversations and clarification answers, source material, attachment names and extracted text, generated plans, task trees, source excerpts and references, organized results, rewrite feedback, and history.
  • Usage and credits data: credit grants, credit consumption, subscription status, feature usage, and basic diagnostic events. AI cost records include account/session and operation references, model and provider request identifiers, token counts, reported USD cost, and request status; those cost records do not contain prompts, source text, or API keys.
  • Payment data: subscription plan, payment and refund status, invoices, and order, payment, refund, and checkout identifiers from the provider used for your transaction. Waffo Pancake processes the necessary payment information when selected at checkout; existing Creem transactions, subscriptions, and related records remain subject to their applicable processing and retention requirements. We do not store full card numbers. We use provider notifications to manage paid access and credits, including reversing unused credits associated with a fully refunded payment.
  • Technical data: browser, device, IP-derived security signals, cookies, and logs needed to keep the service reliable and secure.

How We Use Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide task breakdown, source-based experience organization, rewrite, export, history, and workspace features.
  • Run AI requests through our configured AI provider.
  • Manage credits, subscriptions, billing, fraud prevention, and support.
  • Improve reliability, safety, product quality, and abuse prevention.
  • Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and security obligations.

AI Inputs and Generated Results

When you send content or request generation, organization, or rewriting, TaskBreakdown sends the necessary source text, conversation context, feedback, and existing results through OpenRouter to the configured model provider. Experience organization also sends source text to the model; it does not run entirely on your device. Third-party handling is subject to the applicable provider terms and privacy policies. We do not promise zero retention or that third parties never use content for training.

Do not submit material you are not authorized to process. Remove unnecessary personal identifiers, medical, legal, financial, confidential business, or other sensitive information before submitting.

Files and Local Extraction

The workspace supports TXT, Markdown, DOCX, and text-based PDF files. The current version reads attachments and extracts text in your browser; it does not upload and store the original attachment binary as a workspace file. Selecting a file alone does not send its content to AI. When you click Send, the filename, extracted text, and your instructions are submitted to our server and may be used in later AI requests and saved history. Local extraction does not mean the extracted text stays on your device. OCR for scanned files is not currently supported.

Generated plans, summaries, and classifications may be incomplete or inaccurate. Quoting source material does not mean we have verified the author's claims. You are responsible for reviewing the results.

History and Deletion

After you send content, sessions, full conversations, source material, extracted text, generated or organized results, rewrite history, and related metadata are saved in your account history so you can continue the work. Storage is not limited to summaries.

Workspace deletion is currently a soft deletion: after confirmation, the record is hidden from normal history and result access, but its source text, conversation, and results are not immediately physically erased from the database. There is currently no fixed automatic permanent-erasure deadline. The delete button does not guarantee immediate removal from logs, backups, or third-party systems that have already processed the content.

Contact us below to request further deletion of account or content data. We will verify and assess the request in light of applicable obligations and technical capabilities. Payment, security, or legally required records may need to be retained. We do not guarantee an automatic cleanup capability that has not been implemented.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for login sessions, locale preferences, and security. They may also support analytics or payment features when those features are enabled. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but some product features may not work without necessary cookies.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share necessary information with service providers that help us operate TaskBreakdown, including authentication, hosting, database, AI, payment, analytics, email, and security providers. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect users, the product, or the public.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. No internet service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please use a strong password and protect your account credentials.

Changes

We may update this policy as TaskBreakdown evolves. When we make changes, we will update this page.
